After a blustery few nights sent recycling bins flying and knocked out power for thousands, the wind is gone and the sun is out. We’re in for a small stretch of mild weather — sunny, even. Now’s a good time to get outside and look for dirt blooms.

Here’s what’s going on around town…

Mayor Harrell is getting in on the executive order action.

The Blessing of the Fleet is such a cool piece of Seattle history.

A James Beard Award nominee is opening a new place at 1 Hotel, and if you need me, I’ll be there — probably pretending I know more about food than I do.

Your birth month = your Waitress costume

Pearl Jam is just so good. We’re all still holding onto that crush on Eddie Vedder, right?

This new BBQ in Fremont looks delicious. Sending our CFO, a true barbecue connoisseur, to check it out.

Fake spring is here, tricking us all into putting away our coats and considering outdoor brunch.

Smith Tower at sunset.

This should concern all of us.

Eighth Generation’s scarves and bags are gorgeous and I want them all.

Do you know what a snitter is? You’re welcome!

Chateau Ste. Michelle’s summer concert lineup is out. I’ve got Earth, Wind & Fire on my list — who are you seeing?

Making this bruschetta with mashed beans once I get over Covid.

Surveillance debates and a Jurassic-sized surprise

It’s been warm enough to eat outside, so we did: enchiladas and cucumber salad on the deck last night, with a light chicken manure breeze for ambiance. No shade to the neighbors — it’s garden season, and I support it 100%. Here’s what’s going on around town… Spice Waala’s soft serve flavor this week? Turmeric…

The Pulse: Too Nice to Work

An elk who knows he's hot and a vending machine that understands us

It’s been offensively nice outside this week. We’re all acting like the past six months of rain never happened and won’t happen again. I love it. I had a colleague once tell me, “No one works past 3 p.m. on Fridays in the Northwest when the weather’s nice.” I’ll be observing that sacred tradition today….
