You’d be forgiven if you thought the ideal color to describe Seattle is “gray” — at least for eight months of the year.

That’s certainly not how paint brand Lick! sees it. The cult favorite home-décor brand chose Seattle as one of only five cities for its new collection of U.S. City Palettes — a creation of curated colors meant to capture the sense of iconic cities across the country, as well as to reflect the natural landscape. New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Nashville are the others.

“Surrounded by national forests, the Seattle palette is inspired by the great outdoors at the city’s doorstep,” Lick! says.

The colors: Teal 01 and Teal 03 “balance a busy mind.” Powdery Blue 04 is “mentally soothing,” and Orange 04 “will help you connect with others and soothe your mind.”

Lick! Is a UK brand that launched during the pandemic. It began offering paint and wallpaper in the U.S. last year. The company says it chooses colors that reflect the psychology of different places.
