These places have opened in the last six months—and this list isn’t even comprehensive.
Sometimes Seattle is just so very Seattle. Like when you notice there have been so many cool neighborhood coffee shops open in the last six months that it’s almost impossible to keep up. We’re so spoiled—and caffeinated!—aren’t we?
Here’s a rundown on new spots to get your morning drip (or cortado, if you want to impress your barista):
Street Bean Coffee
Opened: October 2016
Brewing: Their own single-origin beans and custom blends.
What to know: This second location has the same honorable mission: training folks who want to get off the streets to be proficient in barista skills.

Anchorhead Coffee Co.
Opened: September 2016
Brewing: Their own beans, roasted in Duvall
What to know: These guys have been bottling their cold brew for years—you can find that here, but you’re better off getting the cold brew on tap with house-made almond milk. (Also: quaffle = cinnamon roll/croissant hybrid smashed in a waffle iron.)

Union Coffee
Opened: September 2016
Brewing: Victrola beans
What to know: The man behind the spot is Zack Reinig, ice cream maven Molly Moon’s husband and business partner. Another prominent local name, Linda Derschang (of Tallulah’s, Bait Shop, Oddfellow’s, etc.), designed the interiors—you can thank her for the monochromatic white aesthetic.

Honor Society Coffee
Opened: September 2016
Brewing: Their own single-origin, responsibly sourced beans
What to know: Look for all the buzzwords here: house-made nut milks, avocado toast, and cold-pressed juices (co-owner Brandin Myett is half of the Juicebox team, the other owner is “career coffee roaster and barista” Liz Pachaud) in addition to the coffee.

What to know: There’s a rentable space behind the café called the RV Park—that’s “retail visioning park”—designed to be the sort of multi-use community space that houses art classes, retail pop-ups, meetings, and more.

What to know: Coffee plays second fiddle to the poke bowls, but there’s also breakfast sandwiches and bubble teas.

What to know: There’s about a dozen wines by the glass, but the buzz off an espresso soda is still hard to beat.
