Last Day for Dot’s Deli Will Be May 13

Go now, before the porchetta is gone.

Nooooooo. Looks like there’s another closing to report: Chef/owner Miles James of Dot’s (who we just wrote about in our January issue) just posted this to the Pike Place deli’s Facebook page:

“I can’t figure out a good way to say this but I have some sad news – we are coming up on a year at the Pike Place Market, our lease is up and unfortunately we are not going to renew it. I say “we” but really it’s just me running the whole place by myself, and to make ends meet I need to be doing 3-4 times the business I am now which just isn’t feasable on my own. I thought that if I could just hold on a little longer that I’d be able to make it work but you can only go on like that for so long before you have to admit it to yourself. Being in the market is a dream come true and I’m so glad I got the opportunity, and want to say thank you to everyone who supported us. We will be open through this Friday the 13th (or until we sell out of product) so now’s your chance to get porchetta and meatballs! Thanks everyone for your support!”

This is a travesty for so many reasons. I suggest you follow his advice and go get yourself a porchetta sandwich a.s.a.p. I’m going to reach out to James to find out where he’ll pop up next—he’s too talented to stay out of the kitchen for long.

Cake & Punch brings fully planned micro weddings to one of Seattle’s best-known stages.

Almost exactly 16 years ago, over Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I left work in Fremont and boarded a seaplane to Victoria, B.C., to get married. We were both working in tech at the time, and the whole plan was wonderfully small. I wore a colorful Anthropologie dress I’d bought for $150, and my…
