(4/7) Bring your friends and start the day right at the fourth annual Seattle magazine Brunch Run. The 5K dash begins at Magnuson Park and continues along Lake Washington. (4/8) The best-selling author of Bird by Bird visits Seattle this Sunday. The author, whose other titles include Traveling Mercies: Some Thoughts on Faith and Stitches: A Handbook on Meaning, Hope and Repair, has the same dreadlocks, but also a new tome exploring the power of grace and forgiveness. Magic: The Gathering Grand Prix Seattle
(4/5-4/8) The fantasy card game designed here in Seattle, “Magic: The Gathering” turns 25 this year, celebrating with a huge hometown party downtown. The event is free for anyone who is a diehard fan (10-year-olds and still-playing adults, looking at you) or just a curious passerby. However, if you want to compete in the tournaments, there are registration fees. Bonus: There will be cosplayers, vendors selling Magic gear, and exhibits showcasing the game’s card art throughout its 25 years. Times and prices vary. VegFest
(4/7-4/8) Nosh on over 500 vegetarian food samples and learn more about the plant-based diet at Vegetarians of Washington’s annual VegFest. Check out cooking demos from chefs, along with vegetarian cookbooks for sale so you can test out your skills at home. There will be health screenings and presentations from doctors, discussing how a vegetarian diet can positively affect your health. Pro tip: Arrive early and with an empty stomach.
