Dino Weekend
(3/11–3/12, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.) Unleash your inner Dr. Alan Grant and dig some fossils at Dino Weekend. At this monstrously popular event, youngsters are invited to get an eyeful of real fossils, uncover some with their own hands in the Dinosaur Dig Pit, dress up like their favorite Jurassic beast and then try to out-roar them. Bacon, Eggs & Kegs

Pi Day Pie-Eating Contest
(3/14, starts at noon) After last year’s berry-filled competitive pie eating contest resulted in some rather grisly-looking images (it was a “bit…much…visually,” a statement reported), the Downtown Seattle Association has pivoted pie principles and this year will partner with Tom Douglas, who’s donating his famous (and more face-friendly) Triple Coconut Cream Pies to the DSA’s second annual event. Ten participants will chow down face-first for bragging rights and a Serious Pie gift card. Free. Occidental Square, downtownseattle.com

Seattle Web Fest 2017
(3/11, 10 a.m.-8 p.m.) Web series guru and Emmy award-winner Bernie Su and enduring Seattle star Tom Skerritt are among special guests at this festival that celebrates web-based fiction, non-fiction series and independent television from Seattle and around the world. The Fest will screen over 50 original series, host hours of panels and feature a special screening of Stroller Gangs, a new Seattle-based series from Heyou entertainment and Skerritt himself described as “Sex in the City on baby stroller wheels.” Free.
