Must Listen
Timbrrr! Winter Music Festival
(1/27-1/28, times vary) Head on over to Leavenworth for that fresh mountain air and check out the 4th round of this wildly popular music festival including performances by the Thermals, Crater, Honcho Poncho and more. Take advantage of the discounted ski passes at Stevens Pass by day and enjoy the live music and a hot toddy at the festival’s Hot Toddy Garden by night. $60 for a weekend pass, winter.timbermusicfest.com

Must Give
Filson’s 4th Canine Happy Hour
(1/28, 3-6 p.m., free) Filson will host this pup-friendly happy hour at its flagship store with drinks for the people and treats galore for the four-legged friends. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Conservation Canine, a UW nonprofit that trains rescue dogs to assist researchers and scientists. Maybe they should have called it “yappy hour.” filson.com

Must Hear
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
(1/31, 8 p.m., $33.50) Little-known fact: Ladysmith Black Mambazo had a thriving career looong before Paul Simon’s Graceland. For more than 50 years, this South African a cappella singing group has stayed relevant due to its tight vocal harmonies, signature dance moves and keeping one eye on the future, while the other looks toward its long musical history. stgpresents.org

Must See
La Traviata
(Through 1/28, times and prices vary) Britain’s Telegraph calls director Peter Konwitschny’s production of Verdi’s passionate portrait of a fallen women a “five-star” hit with effortless visuals, remarkable sophistication, and some of the most demanding and beloved music in the soprano repertoire. seattleopera.org

The King and I
(Through 2/3, times and prices vary) Former Intiman boss Barlett Sher reunites the award-winning creative team behind South Pacific and The Light in the Piazza to give new life to Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic sexless love story about the king of Siam and the schoolmarm.
