Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and what Mom could really use after all her hard work raising you is a good drink. She might even want to spend some time with you, too. Give her both this Sunday by taking her out for one of the below cocktails being served up at Seattle bars.

The French 612 at Miller’s Guild: A take on the legendary French 75, this fruity and bubbly combo features vodka, pineapple, blackberry, elderflower liqueur and sparkling wine. It’s dandy for toasting and would suit a sunny Mother’s Day perfectly (for Mom’s sake, we can hope). They also have a special “Mother Hen” omelet with crème fraiche, seeds and spring ramps.

The Morning Paper at Jack’s BBQ: Meat-loving moms are in luck, as Jack’s launches its new Sunday brunch service (10 a.m. to 2 p.m.) on Mother’s Day. There’s a new set of brunch cocktails, too, highlighted by The Morning Paper, which combines gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh grapefruit juice and Italian sparkler prosecco. Light and spring-like, the drink is a fine companion to a giant BBQ plate with eggs and jalapeno sausage.

La Ragazza at Lark: In lieu of taking your mother on a surprise trip to Florence for Mother’s Day, this refreshing Italian-inspired cocktail is the next best thing (and a bit cheaper). The cocktail is made with vanilla-infused Aperol (an Italian aperitif), dry vermouth, grapefruit and Lemoncoccoan Italian beverage made with lemons and coconut.

Dulce de Tamarindo at Casco Antiguo: If Mom likes a little spice, don’t set her up with a bland drink. Instead, bring her to this Pioneer Square cantina and order up its Mexican-Caribbean combo of Plantation dark rum, tamarind syrup, a slightly fiery ancho chili liqueur and Angostura bitters. It pairs well with their delicious plantain empanadas.

Bellini at Bruciato: If your mother loves pizza and is classically-minded when it comes to Sunday cocktails, she might be the coolest mom of all time. You’ll definitely want to take her to Bainbridge Island’s Bruciato for the special Mom’s pizzamade with Persephone Farm spinach, chèvre, shaved breakfast radish, spring greens, preserved lemon and ricotta salataand pair it with their Bellini. Bruciato puts its spin on the traditional blend of Prosecco and peach puree with a light topping of Aperol.

Cake & Punch brings fully planned micro weddings to one of Seattle’s best-known stages.

Almost exactly 16 years ago, over Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I left work in Fremont and boarded a seaplane to Victoria, B.C., to get married. We were both working in tech at the time, and the whole plan was wonderfully small. I wore a colorful Anthropologie dress I’d bought for $150, and my…
