It’s National Cat Day, and you know what that means: Uber kittens are out in full force. Request an UberKittens delivery today and a few fury friends will show up to hold, love or even adopt. Simply open the app between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., request some kittens and you have 15 minutes to spend with the adorable feline fur balls. There is a $30 fee, which will be used to support the Seattle Humane Society.
Drug activity in the University District appears to be on the decline due to a partnership between the University of Washington and the Seattle Police Department, The Seattle Times reports. The effort, known as the “U Way Project”, aims to rid the district of dealers peddling cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and other narcotics on street corners, a problem that has plagued the area for years. Police use undercover officers to make drug buys while other officers watch from afar, resulting in the arrests of 20 dealers in a four-month period. “They (drug dealers) were pretty nasty characters,” Lt. Jim Arata told the Times. “They scared everybody, college students, everybody. “ Officer Michael Lanz added, “We’re trying to make a more livable place.”
The Seattle Public Library will keep its name, The Seattle Times reports. That’s right, the library will not adopt Seattle Public Libraries as its new moniker. The library board of trustees voted unanimously Wednesday not to move forward with the name change. The vote also included a decision not to adopt a new logo for the library. The rebranding effort could have costed upwards of $935,000 if the board chose to move forward with the change.
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson leads the NFL in officially licensed merchandise sales from March 1 to August 31, according to the team’s Website. The Hawks’ mobile QB tops the list for the second year in a row. Five other Seahawks join Wilson in the top 50, including Richard Sherman (8th), Marshawn Lynch (12th), Jimmy Graham (21st), Kam Chancellor (28th) and Earl Thomas (31st).
