Do you notice an extra spring in your step? It couldn’t be that ferry boat full of crab nachos—or the cauliflower wings—as you watch the Mariners play baseball for the first time since October, could it? Perhaps you have a light rail adventure to the Eastside planned? Whatever it is, here are some more things to bring a smile to your face and fill your belly.

Five fresh watering holes

Seattle is the best city in the Pacific Northwest to take your friends out for a pint or a paloma, bar none. Well actually, there are plenty of bars, and a handful that are new to the scene are worth checking out as we head into the weekend. Flight Club nails the bull’s-eye on modern darts fun, The Rebel is a well-fed reincarnation of Kate’s Pub, and LZ’s Tavern provides late-night bites ranging from fish and chips to Mexican fare. Plan your next crawl.

Ready for liftoff?

In just a few weeks, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s expanded Concourse C will make its long-awaited debut. With four added floors and 200,000 square feet of new space, you can bet there’s plenty of room for food—from national names like Buffalo Wild Wings and Chili’s to local flavors like Nanny’s BBQ, Bite Society, Great State Burger, and Seattle Macaron Co. But most importantly, Olympia Coffee will be on site to provide that much-needed caffeine.

Next time, brine your friends

SEAshucked, the mobile catering company recently shell-ebrated two years of business with its annual gala at the Columbia Tower Club. Bridgerton-inspired ballgowns and breeches (alongside caviar service) made for quite a classy affair, where co-owners Theresa Bui and Kayren Thach chatted with attendees, shucking fresh oysters from their bivalve belts, dressing them with all the accoutrements.

The pinnacle of sadness

After a quick climb from starting a food truck to opening two brick-and-mortar locations, Mt. Joy has fallen off a cliff, with both of its Seattle chicken restaurants closing. The Capitol Hill and South Lake Union eateries aimed to bring food sourced through regenerative farming to the people, offering menu items like boneless wings and spicy sandwiches, with the backing of industry giants, restaurateur Ethan Stowell and pastry chef Dionne Himmelfarb. An ownership change occurred last year, with Conscious Hospitality co-founder Daniel Brawer taking over.

Easter brunch above Elliott Bay

Views of the water and the Seattle Great Wheel are the perfect backdrop to enjoy a holiday meal in the ballroom at the Four Seasons Hotel. There, Executive Chef Andrea Ferrandi and his team will prepare a buffet spread of king salmon, prime rib, lamb, eggs Benedict, fresh tagliatelle, seasonal sides, pastries, and desserts. Morning libations like mimosas and Bloody Marys will keep the adults happy, and an appearance from the Easter Bunny will be a hit for the kids. Goldfinch Tavern will also serve special items if you’re in search of a more intimate celebration.

The Emerald City does St. Patrick’s Day well.
