There are some spectacular interior and exterior spaces in the running for the second annual Remodelista and Gardenista Considered Design Awards, and six of them herald from our very own stomping grounds. If you’re not familiar with the design accolades, essentially the two creative websites (one focused on tips, tricks and pics galore of interior design and the other dedicated to gardens and outdoor creations) gather readers’ design submissions—both professional and amateur—across multiple categories, then a panel of industry A-listers (find the tally of judges here and here) narrows those submissions down and preps them for the next round: when you get to vote.

From now through August 8, you can cast your vote once a day for one of the Considered Design Awards finalists in 10 Remodelista categories (best kitchen, best bath, best office, etc.) and in seven Gardenista categories (best edible garden, best outdoor living space). Naturally, you’ll want to show your loyalty to those interior designers, architects and landscape designers from Seattle, so we’ve rounded up all six of them below so you can pick your favorite and vote for it on the Remodelista website or the Gardenista website. And it just so happens that one of these fine spaces belongs to Seattle magazine’s arts and culture editor Brangien Davis, which I wrote about in our May 2014 issue. So get to voting!

1. Best Professional Living/Dining Space, Brian Paquette Interiors

Location: Seattle

What the judges said: “This space has an elevated first-apartment feel; I like the way Brian has mixed reasonably priced new pieces—the Blu Dot Strut table, for instance—with vintage furniture and lighting from local artisans Iacoli & McAllister, whose Frame Light illuminates the dining room table.”

2. Best Professional Bedroom Space, DeForest Architects LLC

Location: Lakewood, Wash.

What the judges said: “I love how light and airy this bedroom is and the way it opens to the outdoors. The wood ceiling keeps the space from feeling too cold and adds a note of rusticity.”

3. Best Professional Bedroom Space, Hyde Evans Design

Location: Rockaway Beach, Wash.

What the judges said: “This aerie corner retreat overlooking the sea manages to channel a nautical vibe without veering into twee territory; I like the mix of humble grain sack pillows, rag rug, and stool bedside table.”

4. Best Professional Bedroom Space, Brian Paquette Interiors

Location: Seattle

What the judges said: “I love the way his own bedroom is a quiet sanctuary, simple and uncluttered, painted in a fresh white. It’s filled with personality—adore the plate on the wall and the reading lamp—but not so much that it becomes overwhelming. It feels warm and rich with objects personally chosen by the designer to evoke beauty.”

5. Best Edible Garden, Britton Shepard (on Gardenista)

Location: Fall City, Wash.

What the judges said: “[It pairs] a permaculture ethic with strong aesthetics (love the fence!), while also packing in the produce. Who wouldn’t want to walk down that Berry Boulevard and meet all those happy beneficials?”

6. Best Hardscape Project, Shed Architecture & Design (on Gardenista)

Location: Seattle

What the judges said: “From the street, this looks like one of the least bulky concrete wall we’ve ever seen; it blends the landscape as if it belongs there. From the house, the concrete structure extends living space naturally to the outdoors and makes the front yard part of the clients’ everyday routine.”
