Continuing its trend of awesome fantasy exhibitions, next week Seattle’s EMP Museum is bringing us Game of Thrones®: Ascend the Wall, which basically lets you pretend to be Jon Snow.

(If you’re late to the Game of Thrones party, the 700-foot-tall, 300-mile-long solid ice wall referred to in the exhibit’s title is a major feature in the wildly popular television series based on the wildly popular series of books.)

Here’s a description and screenshots provided by EMP:

This new, fully immersive, 4D Oculus Rift virtual reality experience places users within the world of Westeros. Visitors will journey to the top of the iconic 700 ft. ice wall by stepping into a physical re-creation of the Castle Black winch elevator and wearing the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset and a pair of headphones. From that moment on, visitors will find themselves inside a virtual version of the elevator–one that looks, sounds, and feels extremely real, providing an unprecedented, immersive Game of Thrones experience.

Sadly, this isn’t a co-op experience, so you don’t have an excuse to argue with your friends over which one of you is more of a Sam or a Ghost than a Jon.

But on the plus side, no White Walkers! (I hope.)

The exhibit runs from November 13, 2014 to January 3, 2015.

The local band is the unlikely mascot we need.

Contrary to what you might think, the best mascots are born, not manufactured. Yes, a lovable socialist monster like Gritty might emerge to provide a face for the soul of a city, but sometimes, there are artists who rise up to define the character of that city. One of the enduring memories I have of…
