(8/3–10/29) The Seattle Art Fair (which you can navigate with these pro tips) isn’t the only cool artsy function this weekend. In the new, yet-to-be-named Olson Kundig–designed cultural hub on the third floor of King Street Station, a collection of 40 works created exclusively by women examines themes of belonging, resistance and what it means to be American. Culled from the city’s Portable Works Collection and produced via the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture and Department of Transportation, BorderLands will also feature renowned visual artist Pedro Lasch’s installation “Flag Fusions,” which addresses language, nationalism and patriotism. Seafair Weekend
(8/4–8/6) Head down to the shores of Lake Washington for live music, fantastic food and, of course, the thundering Blue Angels showing off in the sky and the roaring hydroplanes racing around Lake Washington at this traditional weekend conclusion to Seattle’s annual Seafair festival. KEXP Concerts at the Mural
(8/4–8/25) A Seattle summer tradition now in its 10th year, this free concert series held every Friday throughout the month is a can’t-miss cap to the work week. Gather up your buds and enjoy tunes from the station’s buzziest bands, and slurp suds from the beer garden, natch. This Friday’s opening lineup features Portland indie-rock vets the Helio Sequence and locals Summer Cannibals and Cosmos. Look for the Maldives, Thunderpussy, Industrial Revelation, Emma Lee Toyoda, Telekinesis, Y La Bamba and more throughout the rest of the month. 5:30 p.m. Free. Lady Gaga Joanne World Tour
(8/5) Few artists can pull off a wardrobe made entirely of meat and then pivot to a smooth duet of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” with Tony Bennett. Somehow, Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, does it, gathering Grammys, Golden Globes and no small amount of glitter along the way. Corgi Races at Emerald Downs
(8/6) Watch herds of corgis put their adorably short legs into overdrive at the inaugural corgi races. The fluffy canine competitors will hit the track between the traditional horse races at Emerald Downs. The Auburn Valley Humane Society will also be in the picnic area starting at noon with adoptable dogs looking for forever homes. Along with the ridiculously cute Goatalympics, this might be the most adorable summer tradition yet. 2–6:30 p.m. $7 admission, free for ages 17 and under.
