pstrongMust Head West/stronga href=”http://bit.ly/1abKfKs” target=”_blank”brWest Seattle Summer Fest/abr(7/12 to 7/14, times vary) — The West Seattle Junction closes the main streets and goes wild for three days with its annual summertime bash. Expect the sidewalks and thoroughfares to be jam packed with bites from Pizzeria 22, Seattle Fish Company and Shoofly Pie among others, art, music, shopping at West Seattle standbys including Capers and Easy Street Records and plenty of activities for pint-sized partygoers./p
pstrongMust Ooh La La/stronga href=”http://madisonvalley.org/events/p/bastille-bash-2013.html” target=”_blank”brBastille Bash/abrSaturday (7/13, 3-8 p.m.) — With so many Francophiles looking to experience joie de vivre in Madison Valley, Bastille Bash organizers expanded this year’s French fest along East Madison Street to include 27th, 30th and 29th avenues. Try bites from Cafe Flora, sweets from Inès Patisserie, wines galore and the chance to win three nights in Paris. Oui, s’il vous plaît!/p
pstrongMust Go International/stronga href=” http://bit.ly/12ZzZ5S” target=”_blank”brChinatown/International District Dragon Fest/abr(7/13 to 7/14, times vary) — Head to the ID for one of the largest pan-Asian festivals in the Northwest. This year’s Dragon Fest promises to rock the streets with two days worth of colorful lion and dragon dances, tasty eats, taiko drumming performances and drill teams aplenty. New: The food walk of your dreams, including $2 bites from more than 30 restaurants, including Uwajimaya, Purple Dot Cafe and Fuji Bakery./p
pstrongMust Rock/stronga href=”http://bit.ly/13BO0Kb” target=”_blank”brSub Pop’s Silver Jubilee/abrSaturday (7/13, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.) — The grand dame of Seattle’s indie music scene, Sub Pop Records isn’t too old to throw a rager. This celebration takes place on the streets of Georgetown, an appropriately grungy ’hood for the label that launched Soundgarden and Nirvana. The live music lineup showcases the label’s diversity of sound, from longtime local rockers such as Mudhoney and Tad Doyle to the newer folk freakiness of Father John Misty and the genre-busting hip-hop of Thee Satisfaction and Shabazz Palaces./p

With a mix of mediums, ojo|-|ólǫ́ examines questions surrounding the authenticity and ownership of Indigenous work.

It’s a phrase that’s been drilled into most of us since we were young children: When you’re visiting a gallery, please, do not touch the art. In many cases, it’s with good reason: the pieces on display are fragile, one-of-a-kind, or historic works that cannot be reproduced. It’s such an ingrained approach to the museum-going…

Things I did, saw, ate, learned, or read in the past week (or so).

Circular Thinking I am very lucky to live just a 12-minute walk away from Seattle Art Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park. It’s a regular destination for my weekly walks and, aside from the world-class art, has one of the city’s best views of Puget Sound. Earlier this week, I went on a wet, windy walk and discovered…

How Angela Dunleavy’s new venture is reimagining experiential marketing—and Seattle spaces.

After two decades running restaurants, a nonprofit, and a large-scale catering operation, Angela Dunleavy reached a familiar midcareer inflection point. She had helped build Ethan Stowell Restaurants, led FareStart through the pandemic, and returned to the private sector as CEO of Gourmondo. But something still felt unfinished. “What is it that I really want to…
