Summer Ice Cream & Shopping Social to Benefit Mary’s Place
(5/25) Sweets and sparkles and style—oh my! Sell Your Sole consignment boutique is joining forces with Molly Moon’s ice cream and Stella and Dot jewelry to throw a delicious soirée where you can give and get at the same time. Play dress-up with labels like Rag & Bone, Lanvin and Manolo Blahnik with stylist Nicole Jackson on hand to offer her expertise. Try on some bling and enjoy an ice cream sandwich, or get the weekend started early and give in to a delectable sorbet champagne cocktail. Taste of West Seattle
(5/25) If you hadn’t noticed, West Seattle’s food scene keeps getting better. But long before the recent spate of openings, this food-centric fundraiser has been highlighting neighborhood restaurants while helping the community. The 12th annual event features food and drink from 50 restaurants and breweries from West Seattle and White Center, with proceeds going toward the West Seattle Helpline—an organization offering low-income residents financial help, clothing and transportation. 6:30 p.m., $75-$90, The Hall at Fauntleroy, 9131 California Ave. SW; tasteofwestseattle.org
Must Rock the Gorge
Sasquatch! Music Festival
(5/26-28) The annual Memorial Day weekend bash at the Gorge couldn’t be slowed by losing headliner Frank Ocean, who bailed this month citing “production delays” (whatevs, Frank). In his stead, the rowdy Sasquatch crowd will get down to on-again dance-punk pioneers LCD Soundsystem, who apparently have a new record in the works. Northwest Folklife Festival
(5/26-29) The sun is shining and Seattle is feeling the great-outdoors spirit just in time for the 46th Annual Northwest Folklife Festival. Fueled by donations and community, this yearly celebration of the PNW’s diverse cultural tapestry promises a variety of live music, performances and art from all walks of life in various spaces and across multiple stages. Fun for families, large groups and solo attendees, Folklife has something for everyone—and yes, they have beer. Emerald Bike Ride
(5/28) Now in its second year, the Emerald Bike Ride presented by Kaiser Permanente takes a unique path: I-5 and I-90 Express Lanes, as well as the SR 520 Bridge. Cyclists can choose between 11-mile and 25-mile routes, neither of which are typically accessible by bike, making this ride a unique opportunity. In addition to unbeatable views, participants will receive a commemorative hat and the knowledge that their registration fee supports Cascade Bicycle Club’s efforts to make all of Washington a safer, better place to ride a bike. 6:00 a.m., Cost varies.
