When tweets go awry: Yes, the entire state of Washington was thrilled over the Seahawks incredible comeback over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. But let’s not get too carried away. Yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks’ Twitter handle tweeted out a photo of a teary Russell Wilson juxtaposed with a quote from Martin Luther King Jr. and the phrase “We Shall Overcome,” essentially trying to tie the team’s big win to, well, Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement. The Seahawks deleted the tweet, which you can see here, and sent out an apology.

For last year’s Super Bowl visit, the Seahawks arrived in grand style via a Boeing 747 bedecked with the ‘Hawks logo. Sadly, Boeing will not be providing the same pomp and circumstance this year. According to USA Today, the jetmaker “does not currently have any aircraft available to re-create last year’s Seahawks livery.”
Eastlake-based home improvement startup Porch.com announced today that renovation expert and former star of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Ty Pennington (also former carpentry star of TLC’s Trading Spaces, which I used to happily skip class in college to watch) has invested in the company. “Over the years, I have been invited to join or invest in many different “home related” businesses,” Pennington said. “Porch is a game changer for both homeowners and professionals and that is why I have decided to put my money where my mouth is.” The celebrity investor news comes on the heels of Porch.com’s other big announcement: Puget Sound Business Journal reports that the company has grown 1,300 percent in 16 months and raised $65M.
Yesterday’s protest in South Lake Union and near the Seattle Center caused a bit of a traffic mess as protesters jumped into the northbound lanes of Aurora Avenue N and laid down on the highway, bound together with PVC pipe. Nineteen people were arrested and one officer was hurt during the incident, according to Komo News.
