Procuring and caring for small plants has become easier thanks to Urban Sprouts (Renton, 724 S Third St., Suite B; 206.789.0710). Owner Jen Stearns launched Urban Sprouts as a small, Ballard-based operation in 2015, before moving it to its current location a year later.

Today, in addition to teaching Pinterest-worthy classes in building terrariums, weaving macramé plant hangers and many other plant-related skills, she offers a monthly plant subscription service ($9.99‒$11.99/month) with three options.

Each month, subscribers can choose to receive a succulent, an air plant or a mix of small plants, complete with care instructions. Even if you’re not confident about your green thumb, you can learn how to keep your new plant happy. And if those instructions don’t take hold? A new plant is just a month away.
