The entire spectrum of local green design is on display in homes of all types—a 106-year-old Net-Zero Craftsman in Ballard to an under-construction 5-Star Built Green targeted house in West Seattle—this Saturday (4/26) during the 2014 Northwest Green Home Tour.

The free annual tour, produced by a Built Green and Northwest EcoBuilding Guild, takes place from 11 a.m.–5 p.m. and covers all compass points in the greater Seattle area. The challenge will be deciding where to head to first. To see a comprehensive, interactive map, visit http://www.nwgreenhometour.org/map/

In addition to all of the self-guided tour options, Feet First Board President Dave Ramsay will head up a 5.1-mile walk-through of parts of Fremont, Phinney Ridge and Greenwood, visiting six tour homes (see: http://www.nwgreenhometour.org/north-seattle-walking-tour), and there will be a number of special events held throughout the day (see: http://www.nwgreenhometour.org/blog/2014/4/23/free-workshops-during-the-tour)

Craft Value: The Founder of Henrybuilt Reflects on What He’s Learned in 25 Years of Business

In 2001, after 15 years of working in publishing—where I was a founding team member of two venture-funded technology companies—I decided to start a different kind of company: one that made physical products. This company, Henrybuilt, would combine product innovation and craft under one roof and sell directly to the end user—the homeowner—so that we…
