Back in July, we alerted you to the fantastic design competition hosted by websites Remodelista and Gardenista. The second annual Considered Design Awards featured beautiful interior and outdoor spaces–both amateur and professional–submitted by Remodelista and Gardenista readers that a panel of industry experts then narrowed down to multiple finalists (six of those were Seattle-area peeps!). That’s when you, the public, had the opportunity to vote for your favorites.

We’re happy to report that two of the six Seattle finalists are winners! Local interior design firm Hyde Evans Design secured the top spot in the Best Professional Bedroom category, while Britton Shepard from Fall City won Best Edible Garden. See photos of the winning entries below, along with comments from judges on why those entries had initially sparked their fancy. See the rest of the Remodelista and Gardenista Considered Design Awards winners here and here. Go Seattle!

Hyde Evans Design, Best Professional Bedroom Winner

What the judges said: “This aerie corner retreat overlooking the sea manages to channel a nautical vibe without veering into twee territory; I like the mix of humble grain sack pillows, rag rug, and stool bedside table.”

Britton Shepard, Best Edible Garden Winner

What the judges said: “[It pairs] a permaculture ethic with strong aesthetics (love the fence!), while also packing in the produce. Who wouldn’t want to walk down that Berry Boulevard and meet all those happy beneficials?”
