We’ve had plenty of April showers, but where does that leave us for May? Here’s hoping we’re looking at extended patio dinners and leisurely happy hours al fresco a.s.a.p. Put these ideas on your must list to eat and drink in May:

Get the scoop on Nutty Squirrel’s new gelato-mobile.
Meet Caramello, the 1970s Italian three-wheeler local gelato giants Nutty Squirrel had rebuilt in Pisa and delivered to their Magnolia scoop shop for all your summertime gelato catering needs. Isn’t she the cutest? The plan is for Caramello to represent Nutty Squirrel at area farmers markets and festivals through the summer (such as Occidental Park every first Thursday), but you can definitely reserve for weddings, grad parties, etc., too.

Up your Monday dinner game.
Sometimes a case of the Mondays calls for drowning your sorrows in great food and craft cocktails. We get it. Chef Dustin Ronspies of Fremont’s beautiful Art of the Table just announced their kitchen will be open seven days a week now—having always been closed Mondays and Tuesdays—which means you can treat yourself to a $125 tasting menu any ol’ evening. But you needn’t blow a C-note on dinner if you don’t want to—AotT is really delightful for a casual meal and drink in their bar section as well.

Take a flavor tour through Southern Thailand.
Chef Melissa Miranda, who runs a popular monthly Filipino brunch at Bar del Corso called Musang, is partnering with Capitol Hill Thai spot Sugar Hill for a dinner focusing on home-style dishes from Southern Thailand. The five-course meal, the second in a series called No Cookbooks Allowed, will be served family-style, with DJ Blueyedsoul spinning in the background. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $50—get tickets here

Celebrate Seattle Beer Week—with the ladies.
Between May 10 and May 20, there are dozens of events to use an excuse to raise a pint and try a new brew. You can take a look at the full lineup here. But we particularly love the sound of Pike Brewing Company’s Women in Beer event on May 14, where participants will get the chance to try local beers, ciders, cheeses, chocolates and small bites from women-led businesses in honor of the Northwest beer industry’s talented ladies. General admission is $45 ($65 with a t-shirt) and proceeds benefit Planned Parenthood.

Vote for your favorite restaurants in our annual readers’ poll.
We’re down to the wire: You have until May 8 to vote for your favorite eateries in a variety of categories—from best cheap eats to best tasting menu—for our readers’ choice poll. Winners will be announced in our September issue. May the best restaurants win!

Cake & Punch brings fully planned micro weddings to one of Seattle’s best-known stages.

Almost exactly 16 years ago, over Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I left work in Fremont and boarded a seaplane to Victoria, B.C., to get married. We were both working in tech at the time, and the whole plan was wonderfully small. I wore a colorful Anthropologie dress I’d bought for $150, and my…

Summer presents an interesting dilemma for parents, especially those who could really use a night off from cooking. Do you grin and bear it and stay at home? Or do you head out to eat and hope the one-two punch of tablet time and coloring books can get you at least an hour to enjoy…
