An Evening of Short Plays at ACT
(7/18 to 8/17, times vary) — A magician’s assistant levitates, an alien with special powers is enslaved by a magician, and savvy New Yorkers (magically?) hide their infidelities: Seattle’s R. Hamilton Wright directs an evening of short plays by Steve Martin, Sam Shepard, and Woody Allen that examine wonder, fantasy and surprise as presented by three celebrated authors.

Friday (July 25, 6 to 9 p.m.) — If you missed last year’s spectacular tasting event, you have another chance. Red, White & Brew, a fete jam-packed with Washington wines, beer from local breweries, cocktails from Hendrick’s Gin and snacks galore, is back for the third year, this time taking place on the rooftop terrace at the Fremont Foundry.
