Seahawks Fall to the Undefeated Cincinnati Bengals

Despite a big lead coming into the fourth quarter, the 'Hawks drop to 2-3 this season

It was a day of firsts for the Seattle Seahawks Sunday – the team got its first interception of the season (Earl Thomas) and first rushing touchdown (Thomas Rawls) and COULD HAVE GOTTEN THEIR FIRST ROAD WIN BECAUSE THEY WERE WINNING 24-7 IN THE FOURTH QUARTER. But they lost.

They lost.

Football is a manic game, as we wrote in week 1, and it looked like the ‘Hawks were cruising to a win against the Cincinnati Bengals but the defense folded and quarterback Andy Dalton picked up his team mightily and threw for a touchdown in the fourth quarter–ran for one too–and led his team to a last-second field goal to send the game to overtime.

This is now Seattle’s second overtime loss this season. When they could have been 3-2 and either second or tied for first in the division, they fall to 2-3 and things look a lot less clear for the season.

With a big lead in the first three quarters, things began to look more and more in focus for the team. Undrafted rookie, Rawls, had 169 yards and a long touchdown run. The offensive line looked strong for much of the game and the ‘Hawks’ defense worked wonders against the Bengals’ running game. It looked like things were rolling. But, sadly, the pass defense didn’t come to play yesterday and the Bengals did just enough to win (aided by the especially conservative play calling by Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell in OT).

It’s a tough day for ‘Hawks fans. The big turn in fate hurts. That’s all we can say. Onto next week. It’s not a lost season yet by any means, but it doesn’t feel good.

Seattle’s Drag Brunch Has History

The city’s Sunday shows started long before the mimosas got bottomless.

There was a time not too long ago, when drag performances—now a mainstay of Seattle’s queer scene—were kept under wraps. And when brunches, complete with singing and dancing queens dressed in dazzling drag as you sipped mimosas, weren’t a Sunday staple.  During the 1940s and ‘50s, an era largely shaped by restrictive laws and bias…
