Congratulations, Seattleites. Seattle is the fourth most eco-friendly city in the country, according to a recent study by Gogobot. The travel research company—which researches and shares user reviews of hotels, restaurants, bars and attractions in more than 60,000 destinations—used data such as commuter trends and availability of recycling centers in cities all over the United States to determine their findings. The study cites Seattle’s many parks and recycling centers as reasons behind its high eco-friendly standing. San Francisco comes in at No. 1, with St. Augustine, Fla. a close second and Honolulu placing third.

Free medical care for everyone. Seattle and King County Public Health officials, in partnership with thousands of health care professionals and volunteers, are offering free medical care starting Thursday in a four-day event outside KeyArena, KIRO 7 reports. Hundreds of people have already lined up outside the arena for a wide range of dental, vision and medical services, from physical examinations to tooth extractions. The event, which runs through Sunday, begins each day at 12:30 a.m., with tickets distributed at 5 a.m.

A special park for people with disabilities is a step closer to becoming reality, KING 5 News reports. A design meeting Wednesday put Seattle on the cusp of constructing the park—which would be added to the Rose Garden next to the Woodland Park Zoo—to help those with visual and hearing impairments, along with other challenges like autism. Although still in the design phase, city officials hope to have the park completed by the summer. “For some individuals with disabilities, parks can be very challenging because they have too much visual stimulation or not enough,” Ariele Belo, who is deaf and involved in the planning process, told KING 5 through an interpreter. “It’s a park for everybody. People with different disabilities, hard of hearing, deaf, blind, wheelchairs, people with mobility issues can all enjoy it.”

All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner is one of three Seahawks expected back from injuries for the team’s Thursday night matchup with NFC West rival the San Francisco 49ers, according to the team’s website. Wagner missed last week’s game with a pectoral injury, although he pleaded with coaches to let him play. Defensive end Frank Clark (hamstring) and cornerback Tye Smith (hip flexor) will also return. “We were fortunate in these couple of days that some guys w’ere able to return,” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll told reporters at Wednesday’s press conference. “That’s good news for us.” The Hawks hope to end a two-game losing streak and make progress toward reclaiming their spot atop the division.

Seattle’s Drag Brunch Has History

The city’s Sunday shows started long before the mimosas got bottomless.

There was a time not too long ago, when drag performances—now a mainstay of Seattle’s queer scene—were kept under wraps. And when brunches, complete with singing and dancing queens dressed in dazzling drag as you sipped mimosas, weren’t a Sunday staple.  During the 1940s and ‘50s, an era largely shaped by restrictive laws and bias…
