Shopping Trip: A Peek inside Roche Bobois’ New Downtown Showroom

After a few construction delays, and decades of doing business along Seattle’s Western Avenue, Roche Bobois (1922 Fourth Ave.; 206.322.9744) has opened the doors to its new showroom inside the Escala building on Fourth Avenue.

With its surround of high-end retailers and restaurants, the luxury high-rise condominium complex, recently best known for a fictional resident (50 Shades of Grey bad boy, Christian Grey), is an ideal setting for the retailer of chic contemporary furnishings. The 4,983-square-foot space, designed by Plan B Group’s Alex Urrunaga and Roche Bobois’ Jacqueline Hopfer, daughter of legendary designer Hans Hopfer, features an eye-catching industrial design, including a staircase homage to the Eiffel Tower, that makes a fine foil for its new collections and its iconic pieces (such as Hans Hopfer’s colorful Mah Jong sofa).

All in all, it’s quite the showpiece and a splashy way for Roche Bobois to kick off its 30th year in Seattle. Happy Birthday, happy shopping!
